Next Week on Beyond the Gates

There’s plenty of hurt and comfort going on next week in Fairmont Crest. And it has Vanessa (Lauren Buglioli) thinking deep thoughts. “Sometimes I wonder if this is a dream that you wake up from right when it gets good,” she tells Joey (Jon Lindstrom), who is there by her side and ready to provide support. “Let’s find out,” he responds.
Meanwhile, Dani (Karla Mosley) and Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix, who teamed up with a fellow CBS soap star for a fun video) share another sister session at the country club. And once again, Dani’s in the mood to dissect Nicole’s love life. “If Carlton and Kial were cars, who would you drive for 100,000 miles?” Dani asks in her usual, unique Dani way.
“It is not a competition, ” claims Nicole, who needs to repeat those words to Carlton (Robert Christopher Riley) and Kial (Greg Vaughan), who have been going head-to-head lately. Dani’s not done. She reenters the chat with a “what if” scenario. “Conceivably, you could keep both,” she suggests.

The tone suddenly shifts when we see Anita (Tamara Tunie) in the hospital. Her condition has worsened, and being who she is, she has plans, and she knows what she wants if things go a certain way. “I want to sign a do-not-resuscitate order,” she explains.
It’s an order that her family may not like. “I haven’t been able to stop Anita from doing what she wants a day in our lives,” Vernon (Clifton Davis) states as his daughters sit by his side. And they are looking grim.
There’s one more shift in tone — from grim to panic. Jacob (Jibre Hordges) is undercover, and he may be in trouble. He’s on the phone with Smitty (Mike Manning), saying, “Smitty, listen.” The investigative reporter, and Jacob’s partner on this plasma ring case, immediately interrupts Jacob. And he’s frantic.
“No, you listen,” Smitty starts. “We said if this got out of hand, if this got dangerous, we would pull the plug. Well, Jacob, it’s dangerous.” What is about to happen? How dangerous will it get for Jacob?
