Many fans were up in arms when they tried to tune in for their soap operas on July 4th and realized that their local stations were no longer offered on the satellite service. It turns out that there is a very good reason why.

Of course, it all comes down to money. AT&T (which owns DIRECTV) and Nexstar are currently sparring over fees and because of that, AT&T is removing most Nexstar-owned local stations from DIRECTV NOW, DIRECTV, and U-Verse TV, according to CordCutterNews.

While this certainly isn’t the first time something like this has happened, there’s no rule book on how long negotiations like this will last. So what does that mean for those of you wanting to watch your favorite soaps on one of the affected channels?

Luckily, there are options. DIRECTV NOW is scrambling to replace those local Nexstar stations with ones from other local affiliate stations owned by companies like Sinclair and E. W. Scripps Company. You can also call your service and tell them you want your local station back.

In the meantime, there are other ways to watch your soaps. You can sign up for streaming services like Hulu or YouTube, which have LIVE options, and the CBS soaps can also be seen on CBS All Access.
