It’s a massive casting shakeup involving two shows, with an actress being let go and a soap possibly losing a major characters. The Young and the Restless and General Hospital may have given us a real-life soap opera.
According to Daytime Confidential, Gina Tognoni has been let go from The Young and the Restless, where she’s played Phyllis for nearly five years. And, it looks like the original Phyllis is on her way back.
DC reports that Michelle Stafford couldn’t come to a contract deal with General Hospital, despite negotiations going down to the wire. YR jumped at the chance to bring Stafford back as Phyllis, but what happens at GH is anyone’s guess.
Both Nina on GH and Phyllis on YR are front burner characters, with Nina now involved in a baby scam story, thinking she found her long lost daughter, now an adult. Some fans even speculate her real daughter is a character we know.
And, Phyllis is about to lose yet one more thing that’s precious to her this week. With Jack becoming a free agent again, does that mean YR will reunite Peter Bergman and Stafford for another version of Phack?
Both actresses have earned Emmys for playing Phyllis, a character Stafford originated in 1994.
