Fans have loved Gina Tognoni, who plays Phyllis on The Young and the Restless, since she made her daytime debut on One Life to Live. Today, she’s celebrating something amazing – her birthday!
Tognoni was born on November 28, 1973, which means she’s turning 45 years old today!
The three-time Emmy-winning performer made her soap debut as Kelly Cramer on OLTL in 1995 and played her until the early 2000s.
Next, the actress, who was born in St. Louis, Missouri, did something not every actor can accomplish — she took over another daytime role, one which fans quickly accepted her as, when she was cast as the complicated Dinah Marler on Guiding Light in 2004.
Tognoni won not one but two Daytime Emmys as Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for playing Dinah. She stayed with that show until its finale in 2009. Next, she returned to Llanview to reprise Kelly.
In 2014, Tognoni joined the cast of Y&R as Phyllis. She made a splashy debut when Phyllis burst into a church, interrupting the wedding of her ex-husband Nick (Joshua Morrow) to his former wife Sharon (Sharon Case).
That wedding was called off as was the couple’s next union as well, setting the stage for another Nick/Phyllis reunion!
Tognoni took home the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 2016 for playing Phyllis.
