The first cast cut under the new regime at The Young and the Restless has happened. And the move is going to open up Jack Abbott’s dance card.
Actress Alice Hunter, who joined the show last year as chemist Kerry Jones, has confirmed on social media that she’s leaving the top-rated soap. She says the decision was made in order to make room for other characters.
“To all asking – yes, Kerry is taking an indefinite hiatus,” Hunter posted. “She earns it though – you’ll see soon enough. I LOVE the arc, even if I’m sad to leave. And yes, a bunch of #YR cast & crew surprised me Friday and it was something I’ll never forget.”
Viewers were introduced to the sought-after chemist after Eileen Davidson (Ashley) exited the show and the gang at Jabot was in the market for someone to come up with cosmetic products.
Soon, Kerry began dating Jack (Peter Bergman), and viewers became curious as to why Kerry was giving herself injections.
There’s no word yet on when Hunter’s last air date will be, but as the actress’ tweet indicates there’s a reason she’ll be exiting the canvas. Perhaps Kerry will be offered a swanky new job somewhere?
Hunter was deeply touched by many members of the YR company gathering to throw her a farewell bash.
The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.

Make a little room on the canvas. I understand! But I’ll miss everyone.
