Reports surfaced on Monday that Aretha Franklin is gravely ill and near death. Not only is the legendary singer one of daytime’s greatest fans, but a top star from The Young and the Restless holds her close to his heart, too!
Franklin was on the 2005 Daytime Emmys broadcast, presenting the last award of the night for Outstanding Daytime Drama Series alongside one of her personal favorites, Eric Braeden (Victor).
The couple was introduced as the “Queen of Soul” and the “King of Hearts.”
Now, Braeden is sending out a heartfelt message of support to the ailing singer.
Franklin’s appearance at the Daytime Emmys was memorable on its own, but her moment on stage will also be recollected for when Braeden misspoke. He wanted to pay tribute to the late William J. Bell, creator of both Y&R and The Bold and the Beautiful, who had passed away a short time before the awards.
Instead of saying Bell’s name, Braeden accidentally said his own, calling the slip “Freudian.”
You can hear in her voice as she reads the nominees Franklin’s enthusiasm for the daytime genre.
When Eric Braeden learned about the singer’s condition, he reached out on social media in two heartfelt tweets.
Soap Hub sends its best wishes to Franklin, her family, and loved ones at this difficult time.
