A beloved fan favorite is coming back to The Young And The Restless for yet another appearance. Could this lead to a more full-time gig for the actress?
According to Soaps.com, Eileen Davidson is going to reprise her role as Ashley next week. The battle for Jabot will be taking a twist as, per those same reports, Jack (Peter Bergman) and Ashley will call a truce after an outside force threatens Jabot! There’s also Dina’s (Marla Adams) Alzheimer’s that could bring Ash home.
It sure sounds like Davidson would be needed for more air shows to flesh out these dynamics. But the actress opted to quit the show last fall, saying she wanted time off for a variety of reasons.
In January, Soap Hub spoke to Davidson about her husband Vincent Van Patten’s new film, Walk To Vegas, and she talked about leaving daytime. The two-time Emmy-winner addressed rumors that she had exited the show because of then-executive producer Mal Young (who won two Daytime Emmys for his work on YR in May).
“Honestly, I didn’t leave because of Mal,” the actress told Soap Hub. “I’ve told everybody that but it doesn’t seem like anyone wants to believe me.”
Davidson cited many reasons as to why she wanted to take a break from the show, noting the biggest factor was the commute from her home in Malibu to the CBS studios in Hollywood.
Since that time, Davidson has returned to YR for a few occasions related to Ashley’s feud with Jack and she also appeared in the Neil (Kristoff St. John) funeral episodes.
Not only does Davidson have a role in Walk To Vegas, but she’s filmed a role in the upcoming romance/thriller movie, Symphoria.
Also in that project’s cast is A Martinez (ex-Days Of Our Lives), who played Cruz on Santa Barbara. In the last year of Santa Barbara, the two actors were paired romantically on-screen.
Will Davidson be sticking around YR? As soon as Soap Hub gets wind of more Ashley appearances, we’ll bring you the news!
The Young And The Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
