Soap vet Tyler Christopher is beloved for both roles he has played on soaps, and now he has even more reason to celebrate.
That’s because he was born on November 11, 1972, in Joliet, Illinois, which means he turned 46 on Sunday! He is the youngest of four children — with two older sisters and one brother.
He also has two cousins who are also performers — General Hospital stars Derk Cheetwood and Drew Cheetwood, who play brothers Max and Milo.
The handsome actor has Scottish, English, and German ancestry and is also said to have Seneca Native American and Choctaw Native American roots. He attended Ohio Wesleyan University before he moved out west to follow his dream of becoming an actor. He once worked at UCLA Medical Center.
Everything changed for him when he won the highly-coveted role of Laura’s (Genie Francis) son, Nikolas, on General Hospital in 1996. He played the role on and off until 2016 when contract negotiations broke down and the role was briefly recast and then seemingly killed off.
That left Christopher free to be scooped up by Days of Our Lives and GH’s former head writer, Ron Carlivati for his newly created role of Stefan O. DiMera — the long-lost-never-known-about son of Stefano (the late Joe Mascolo) and Vivian (Louise Sorel).
Soaps aren’t the only projects he’s worked on though. Along the way, he’s worked on many TV movies like One for the Money and The Other Mother, and had recurring roles on primetime shows The Pretender and The Lying Game, and also guested on shows like Charmed, CSI, Crossing Jordan, and Secrets of a Small Town.
On the personal front, the actor has been married to Brienne Pedigo since 2008 and the couple has two children, son Greysun James and daughter Boheme.
