The year 2018 is known as the year Patrika Darbo returned to two of her roles. First, she came back to The Bold and the Beautiful as Shirley Spectra. And, now, she’s back as Mrs. Claus in the film Puppy Star Christmas!
Puppy Star Christmas marks Patrika’s return to the Air Bud family as Mrs. Santa (a role she originated in the 2010 film The Search for Santa Paws). Puppy Star Christmas is available now on Netflix.
Watch for new pups to be added to the family in this new movie. Fresh faces Cindy, Rosie, Charlie, and Brody will learn the meaning of Christmas. When Pup Star’s team schemes to ruin the holiday, the pups will head to the North Pole in an effort to save Santa!
“Nobody knows we’re in the darn movie [because] those dogs are so cute,” Darbo told Soap Hub. This is the actress’s second venture with writer/director Robert Vince, who directed her previous venture as Santa Claus’s wife. Richard Riehle is back as Santa Claus.
Darbo loves playing Mrs. Claus, and she’s pleased that the character’s become more notable over the years.

“Mrs. Claus is the one baking cookies, making sure Santa is eating healthy, and taking care of the elves. When Santa was first created, it was all about his work life and over time, we got to see his home life. The elves are his children. It all goes back to family. They take care of one another.”
There’s another B&B connection to this movie. Danny Woodburn, who plays tech wiz Ken on the half-hour soap, is back as Eli, the head elf. “It was old home week for all of us,” says Darbo. “When I first met Danny, he was a stand-in on Step By Step.”
