The soap opera ratings race for the week ending August 24 show all four remaining daytime dramas coming out of their summer doldrums and gaining some momentum.
Days of Our Lives
Days of Our Lives, which lost some steam earlier in August, came speeding back, garnering 2,135,000 viewers on average overall, up 80,000 from the week before, but down a small 5,000 from the year before.
The ‘Jarlena’ wedding looks to have been quite the draw, as was the return of Kristen and Sami.
DAYS also made gains from the prior week in all four coveted female demographics but saw losses from the same time last year.
The Young and the Restless
The number one-ranked The Young and the Restless remained in its spot as always, pulling in 4,150,000 viewers on average overall, up 56,000 from the previous week, but down a whopping 215,000 from the previous year.
Like DAYS, Y&R also made gains from the prior week in the female demos but lost viewers from the prior year.
The Bold and the Beautiful
Sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful fared better in terms of gains than Y&R overall, garnering 3,406,000 viewers on average overall, up 53,000 from the year before and 13,000 from the week before.
B&B was the only soap to make gains from both the prior week and year in all four female demos.
General Hospital
General Hospital also had a mixed week, pulling in 2,365,000 viewers on average overall, down 56,000 from the previous week but up 64,000 from the previous year.
However, GH was the only soap to lose viewers from the week and year before in the women’s demos.
