America and the world are mourning the loss of the 41st President of the United States this weekend, and soap star Eric Braeden is among those who was affected personally by George Herbert Walker Bush.
When the news of President Bush’s death broke late Friday night, Braeden was quick to tweet how much he meant to him and why.
In fact, it turns out Braden knew him even played tennis against him, sharing several fascinating and revealing conversations.
As a native German who recently visited his home country, Braden credits Bush, as does the world with the reunification of Germany that brought that country back to world power status.
Bush was president in 1989 when the Berlin Wall came down, wiping away East and West Germany and creating one country for the first time since the start of the Cold War.
“Just heard that GEORGE H W BUSH 41st POTUS PASSED! I had met him, played tennis against him, had some conversations with him!” the actor tweeted. “He always struck me as a basically very decent man, a man’s man, damned good athlete, and represented some of what is best in the AMERICAN character!”

I think nostalgically back to some of the great advisors in his cabinet like JAMES BAKER &. BRENT SCOWCROFT! In foreign policy ONE OF THE BEST EVER!! How he handled SADAM HUSSEIN was exemplary! How he handled GERMAN UNIFICATION was extraordinary!
