Willow has said more than once she owes her life to Drew, played by Cameron Mathison. We’ve seen gratitude lead to romance in the past on General Hospital. Might it happen this time? Cameron Mathison teased to Soap Hub about the chance of more Drew/Willow scenes coming up.
A Blossoming Romance?
It’s too early to say that Drew and Willow’s (Katelyn MacMullen) relationship will lead to romance. For starters, what would their “smush” name be — “Dillow?” “Wain?” Seriously, though, while it may be premature to say they’re going to be paired together, savvy soap fans know a potential setup when they see it.
There is some nice chemistry between MacMullen and Mathison, and Michael (Chad Duell) and Willow’s relationship isn’t out of the woods yet. There are clearly some trust issues going on between them because Michael wasn’t fully honest with Willow about his going after Nina (Cynthia Watros).
Drew is pretty angry at Nina these days, but he shows a softer side in his scenes with Willow. “She’s a dream,” Mathison tells Soap Hub. “[Katelyn] is a very special human. I think she does a great job with Willow. I feel that that relationship [between Drew and Willow] is really special.
Stay Tuned for More
“It’s funny that you point [our scenes out],” added Mathison when he talked to us on the red carpet for the 31st Annual MovieGuide Awards. “Because I really think that there are going to be more scenes [with us] coming up in the future. It’s a friendship, a relationship that I hope that they get to explore. That sounds like the plan. I’m super excited about it because I’m a huge fan of hers.”
The 31st Annual MovieGuide Awards is hosted by Trevor Donovan (ex-Jeremy, Days of our Lives) and Danica McKellar (The Wonder Years). It airs on Thursday, March 7, at 8 p.m. ET on Great American Family (GAF).
