Why Lulu’s Pain May Be The Best Thing For General Hospital

It’s been hard for fans of Dante and Lulu to watch her struggle on General Hospital as Dante has gone off to try to help himself get deprogrammed by the WSB. After all, it has left Lulu in a limbo world — but that’s over now and it just may be the best thing to happen in a long time.

We don’t mean to say we’re happy that Dante’s portrayer, Dominic Zamprogna, has left the show. But if he plans to stay away, freeing up Lulu (Emme Rylan) by Dante asking for a divorce seems to have had some good come of it, if Tuesday’s show is any indication.

Peter (Wes Ramsey) found Lulu, sans kids but with a glass of wine — and the already-tipsy Lulu was finally sounding like her true self. She pointed out all of her awesomeness (of which he seemed already acutely aware) and also asked an important question. “Do you know who I am? Do you? I’m Lesley Lu Spencer.”

Damn right you are! She’s finally remembered that she’s the only child of Port Charles (and GH) legends, Luke (Anthony Geary) and Laura (Genie Francis), who is still in town, and by that definition alone she should be the greatest legacy character there is! But lately, Lulu hasn’t been acting that way at all.

Now, it feels like all of that could be set to change now with her spinning a little out of control after being dumped. Yes, she knows Dante was being selfless (which could make her love him even more) by making this move and giving her freedom since his future is a complete unknown, but that doesn’t make the pain any easier to handle.

And that’s what we want — this is a daytime drama, is it not? So we need there to actually be some drama and watching Lulu go a bit off the rails and then trying to get her groove back could be just what the doctor ordered.

Perhaps she could pursue Peter — she seems to have far more chemistry with her boss than BFF Maxie (Kirsten Storms). Whether the show chooses to do that or not, here’s hoping they remember exactly who Lulu is — and write for her accordingly. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC.
