Great Scott! Does This General Hospital Vet Need a Front Burner Storyline?

Scott Baldwin has been on — and off — General Hospital (and its spin-off, Port Charles) since the late 1970s. He was the idealistic young law student who helped Laura beat a murder wrap, then married her.

He was the bitter ex-husband who caught the bouquet at Laura’s (Genie Francis) wedding to Luke (Anthony Geary). We saw him as the romantic husband with Dominique, the loving dad to Serena — and, later, Karen, a partner in crime with Lucy (Lynne Herring), and then whatever that rewritten past with Heather (Robin Mattson) that produced Franco (Roger Howarth) was supposed to be.

We’ve even seen him hook up with Bobbie (Jaclyn Zeman) every decade or so. What we haven’t seen is much of Scott (Kin Shriner) on the front burner recently. Should that change? What almost 13,000 people had to say:

Gimme, Gimme, Gimme
There should definitely be more Scott in Port Charles, 68% of you assert. He is a major part of the canvas, with a connection to characters old and new. But we need to see him as more than just Franco’s talk-to, or someone for Lucy to say wacky things too.

He needs a story of his own, one in which he acts, not just reacts. Hey, why not follow up on Scott and Ava (Maura West), a romance that’s been toyed with for the last four years. And then an all grown up Serena shows up…

As Is
The current amount of Scott exposure is just fine, 32% of the audience dismisses. The smarm and the smirk can only take you so far. The man never takes anything seriously, so it’s hard for you to take him seriously.

He obviously has commitment issues, and a tendency to hurt first, before he’s hurt. Nobody deserves a man like that. He’s better off just parenting and lawyering.

General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
