In the Season 5 premiere of Game of Thrones, we were shown a young Cersei encountering Maggy, the fortune teller, near her home at Casterly Rock. The young Lannister was given three questions which have helped predictors try to figure out the long-running villainess’ Season 8 fate.
During the flashback, we learned a lot about what drives present-day Cersei (Lena Headey) in Westeros to do the things she has done — desperate to keep at least one of those prophecies from coming true — the fact that while she did have three children, all would die before her.
Of course GOT fans know this one came true. Now Cersei is claiming to be pregnant again but that wouldn’t jive with the prophecy — so it would seem that either she is lying (not a bad idea) or chances are she will be dead before she gets the opportunity to give birth (more likely).
We’re not saying that she isn’t a skilled chess player. After all, claiming to be pregnant helped make Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) believe she has a reason to want to live and therefore her offer to help fight the White Walkers seemed believable.
The news could also have helped soften Jaime’s (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) growing wariness towards her but she and Jaime seemed to be in a good place at the time she revealed it, so that doesn’t exactly track.
