The criminal charges against Jussie Smollett have been dropped, but that doesn’t mean his Empire cast members are immediately going to welcome him with open arms.
In fact, according to TMZ, the cast and crew are divided on how they feel about the situation.
According to sources, there are people on the set of Empire who believe in Smollett’s innocence, while there are others who still think he staged his attack.
The people who believe he is still guilty also think he should be cut from the show, as he’s still a liability and the show’s future on FOX is uncertain.
The show’s official Twitter account sent out the following statement, which co-star Taraji P. Henson (Cookie) retweeted: “Jussie Smollett has always maintained his innocence and we are gratified that all charges against him have been dismissed.”
Smollett was technically cleared on Tuesday, March 26 and shared a statement during a press conference.
“First of all I want to thank my family, my friends, the incredible people of Chicago and all over the country and the world who have prayed for me, who have supported me and who have showed [sic] me so much love,” he shared.
