The first part of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reunion got off to a dramatic start on Tuesday, but it was Denise Richards’s emotional story about her daughter, Eloise, that had everybody in tears.
The actress, who also appears on The Bold and the Beautiful as Shauna, has two daughters named Lola and Sam with ex-husband Charlie Sheen and adopted 8-year-old Eloise in 2011.
Though fans got to watch Eloise on television during this season’s RHOBH, the 48-year-old mother opened up about her suffering from a chromosome disorder, which has caused delays in her speech.
“Eloise has a chromosome disorder. She has a deletion in chromosome 8 which has caused many delays with her, and it’s caused a lot [of issues] with speech development,” Richards said during the episode.
“It was very difficult to diagnose. She went through a lot.” In fact, the mother of three wasn’t able to fully understand what was going on with Eloise until a couple of years ago.
“It was really hard. When I saw what was written on the medical report to get the blood test and all the testing done, it was hard to see it in black and white. It’s just hard to see it with your kid, you know?” she said through tears.
Though it’s been difficult for Richards, she has the support of her new husband, Aaron Phypers, who is planning on adopting Eloise.
In fact, Richards recently shared a sweet photo of Eloise and Phypers on Instagram, writing, “This says it all …. #MissEloise he ❤️’s the house of girls and has learned a lot about us beautifully complicated strong women.”
