Former Days of Our Lives star Jen Lilley has shared her own pain with the hope it could help someone reading her latest social media post.
The stunning actress began her intensely personal post with a picture of her showing her young son an airplane, with the following: “This is a post unlike any other post I’ve ever posted, but I know for sure at least one of you profoundly needs to read this today.”
She then went on to talk about the day — which was yesterday, October, 16 — as a day of mixed emotions because it “marks the first day my son is truly legally untethered from this biological family.
“While bio parental rights were terminated months ago, today is the first day he’s no longer at risk of being taken from the only parents he’s really ever known because the appeals period has officially passed!!!!”
Lilley plans to adopt her foster son, so now she is one step closer to making that a reality. But that wasn’t all she had to share.
“THE BITTERSWEET: yesterday was my due date. Wait what? Yes, like 1 out of every 4 women, I’ve miscarried. When it happened, I was devastated and felt so alone. I was 12 weeks along, just a week from telling my family, and beyond excited.”
She went on to share the awkwardness and sadness of having to inform her siblings about what had happened. “So back to 10/16/18. The first day I’m supposed to have my baby, I gain the child I’ve wanted more than anything and anyone for over two years. It’s a bittersweet day.”
The actress did end with more good news to share.
“AND THE ALSO AWESOME: today, thanks to the incredible @MSLindsayWagner, I met DeAnne and Michael Durfee, the founders of ICAN4kids.org (inter-agency council on child abuse and neglect). Yes. On October 16, 2018, I got one significant step closer to my dream of helping to change the #fostercare system and truly helping end the cycle of abuse and neglect.”
