Fans let out a collective gasp when it was revealed that Kristin DiMera (and lookalike Susan Banks) was going to be recast with former Young and the Restless actress Stacy Haiduk. Most feared that she would never be able to do the part justice like original performer Eileen Davidson.
However, as soon as Haiduk made her debut as Kristen, dressed in red and brandishing a gun at Marlena during her wedding, many fans were swayed. Now Haiduk is back for an extended arc and many fans are curious about the woman behind the (Nicole) mask. Here are five fast facts about Kristen number two, Stacy Haiduk.
Up, Up & Away
Haiduk is massively thankful for her large following in the Sci-Fi community. Her first major television role was as Lana Lang in the live-action Superboy series. When the first season was released onto DVD Haiduk made her self available to record exclusive interviews for the set.
Love On Set
While staring in her second big tv hit (also a Sci-Fi series) Haiduk fell in love with one of her co-stars, Bradford Tatum, and married him. The couple welcomed a daughter, Sofia, a few years later. In 2006, all three stared in a film written and directed by Tatum called Salt: A Fatal Attraction.
Haiduk is no stranger to voice acting. In fact, she has lent her pipes to 4 incredibly popular video games. She voiced Akaavi Sparr in three “episodes” of Star Wars: The Old Republic and Aline Maera in the action-adventure game, Mirror’s Edge Catalyst.
Gotta Pay The Bills
Haiduk has never been shy about copping to some of the more mundane jobs she’s had to take between acting gigs. During an interview, Haiduk candidly admitted that she drove for Uber during a particularly long performing hiatus.
Opportunities
If things had worked out differently back in 2010, Haiduk may not have had the opportunity to play Kristen. Haiduk was cast as a corrupt prison warden on Days of Our Lives but had to leave the role after three episodes due to scheduling conflicts with the primetime series The Chicago Code. Days Of Our Lives airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
