Nothing spices up the action more on a soap opera than when an evil twin shows up on the scene… but is it twisted fun or an overplayed plot twist?
One of the most enduring storylines happened on All My Children, with Adam Chandler and his sweet twin, Stuart, both played by multi-Emmy-winning actor, David Canary.
But he was hardly the only one. It was a plot device that brought attention to some now-famous actresses.
It won Daytime Emmy Awards for Anne Heche when she got to play super sweet Marly and her twin Victoria on Another World, as well as for Julianne Moore for her work as look-alike cousins Frannie and Sabrina.
General Hospital had Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) and his crazy evil twin, Ryan Chamberlin. Soap Hub was wondering whether or not this twist is missed by fans and here are those results.
Singled Out
After over 10,000 votes were tallied, a whopping 88% are firmly against the idea of resurrecting the evil twin stories of yesteryear. You recall suffering through the craziness the first time that you don’t see any reason to go through it again./p>
It’s enough that actors come on and play long-lost relatives, like Camryn Grimes as both Cassie and Mariah on The Young and the Restless.
They managed to bring her back and she doesn’t have to be evil, even if she did start out a little troubled.
Days of Our Lives (DOOL) managed to have Judi Evans play dual roles of Adrienne and Bonnie without the women being twins and that worked fine for you.
Seeing Double
Still, 12% of you enjoy the plot fun and you wish that it would make a comeback. You loved it back in the day, and figure why couldn’t Ridge have a twin on The Bold and the Beautiful… since he fathered twins, perhaps there is one hidden away somewhere? Would that be so bad?
