Y&R Star Christel Khalil Explains Why She Took An Instagram Break

 Comments

A look at Christel Khalil’s social media pages over the last few years shows that The Young and the Restless actress appeared to enjoy posting about her life and updating fans on what’s going on. However, fans may have noticed that Khalil has been quieter than usual lately.

Christel Khalil Takes A Social Media Break

The actress took to her Instagram to explain her absence. “I have to be honest, I had to take a break from the gram because I was feeling overwhelmed with feeling like I always had to say something, post something, or “use my platform” for specific reasons and it became everything I am not about,” Khalil wrote.

The actress posted a photo of herself with longtime boyfriend Sam Restagno enjoying a beautiful day together, looking peaceful — something that watching social media all day does not usually offer!

“I found myself scrolling aimlessly, feeling badly about myself from seeing what other people were doing and everything I wasn’t doing,” Khalil said. “I think social media can be great in some ways and toxic in other ways depending on your perspective. I know I’m not saying anything new here, but I have to remind myself that these are just highlights.”

She explained that the photo of “my man who is my everything and brings so much joy to my heart” is the type of image that people on Instagram like to see, and while a highlight of her life, it’s not fully representative of everything going on in her life.

“But what it doesn’t show, are all the dark moments I also have experienced and have had to persevere through,” Khalil said. “So here’s to posting a highlight, to remind myself that life is beautiful, impermanent, and shouldn’t be taken for granted.”

Many of her castmates were quick to chime in about her post, including Tracey Bregman (Lauren Fenmore Baldwin), Beth Maitland (Traci Abbott), and Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers), who posted, “love you girl! You’re extraordinary!!!”

On-screen, Lily Winters helps run media company Chance Comm, so it’s a little ironic that Khalil isn’t into social media at the moment, but clearing your mind from the constant barrage of posts can never be a bad thing.
