The Young and the Restless (YR) recap for Friday, January 12 features Reed playing one set of parents against another – until he finally got what he deserved.
The Parent Trap
Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) was looking forward to the end of Johnny and Katie’s visit with her and Billy (Jason Thompson), when who should show up on their doorstep but Reed (Tristan Lake Leabu)?
He wants to crash there for a while, because Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and JT (Thad Luckinbill) are total downers. Billy made Reed call his parents to tell them he’s safe, and they allowed him to stay with Billy. For one night only, Billy stressed. Phyllis grudgingly went along.
Victoria and J.T. were congratulating themselves on what great parents they are for getting along so well and providing a united front, when Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) dropped by and was horrified to hear how they’re coddling their teenage criminal.
Nikki and J.T. exchanged barbs, and, after she left, it’s J.T. and Victoria’s turn. But then they started having sex. Because, what else are knock-down/drag-out fights, but glorified foreplay?

Straighten Up and Fly Right
Nikki headed over to Billy’s and informed Reed he’s coming home with her. Reed got ready for the easy life at the Newman Ranch–until Victor (Eric Braeden) gave him a list of chores, imposed a curfew, and told the teen he’ll be cutting his hair, too.
Meanwhile….
Billy told Cane (Daniel Goddard) he needs to make a grand gesture to win Lily (Christel Khalil) back. Cane agreed and prepares to go big or go home.
At the same time, Ashley (Eileen Davidson) called in Paul (Doug Davidson) after her lab was broken into. As Graham (Max Shippee) eyed the chemicals he stole….
