The Young and the Restless (YR) recap for Tuesday, January 23 finds Tessa pulling out all the manipulative stops to get her way, Victoria and J.T. taking Reed back from Victor and Nikki, and Phyllis setting Hilary up with Ravi — but she’s got more than dating on her mind!
Confession Is Good For the Soul – And the Bottom Line
Devon (Bryton James) told Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) that if she wants her song to be a hit, she better get Mariah (Camryn Grimes) to back off her claims, or the bad publicity will sink them.
Tessa went to Mariah and first denied seeing the journal, then admitted she took it – but she wanted to know how Mariah was feeling. She missed her. She told Mariah she feels the same way, but then insisted they can’t be together.
Oh, and could Mariah please let Devon release her song? For old times’ sake? Realizing she was being used, Mariah stomped off. She showed Devon her journal, so he offered her co-writing credit. She said if he releases the song, she’ll sue.
Welcome Home
Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and J.T. (Thad Luckinbill) told Reed (Tristan Lake Leabu) they’re getting back together and Victor (Eric Braeden) and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) offer tight-lipped congratulations.

They still insisted Reed should keep living with them. Victoria pointed out that Victor and Nikki don’t get to pass judgment on people who keep breaking up and getting back together over multiple decades. And, she and J.T. will be raising their own son.
Long Term Plans
Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) told Billy (Jason Thompson) they’re going on a double date because she set Hilary (Mishael Morgan) up with Ravi (Abhi Sinha). Billy first blamed Ravi for Billy getting fired at Jabot.
Then he told Ravi that Hilary wants a baby – like now. Ravi politely excused himself. Hilary told Phyllis she doesn’t even want a man. Just a baby will do.
