The Young and the Restless (YR) recap for Wednesday, September 6 features Mattie and Reed making like Romeo and Juliet while their parents deal with their own convoluted love lives. Also, Sharon set out to trap Alice even as Zack revved up his plans for Crystal.
Teen Angst
It was the first day of school in Genoa City! Cane (Daniel Goddard) joined Lily (Christel Khalil) and the kids for an Ashby family tradition of first-day waffles, and he found time to object to Mattie (Lexie Stevenson) dating Reed.
Over at Brash & Sassy, Victoria (Amelia Heinle) did the same with Reed (Tristan Lake Leabu) about his dating Mattie.
Parent Angst
Victoria told Billy (Jason Thompson) not to worry about their kiss the other day — it’s already forgotten. They went shopping for Johnny’s school supplies (Cutting it kind of close, aren’t you guys? School’s already started!), and Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) joined them afterwards.
Both women apologized for the altercation the other day. Neither one meant it. Billy and Victoria shared an inside joke about their son. Phyllis quietly seethed.

Meanwhile, Cane left breakfast with one family to join Juliet (Laur Allen) to talk about another. It turned out their baby doesn’t have cystic fibrosis — and it’s a boy! Cane hugged Juliet as she cried in relief.
Busybody Angst
Fresh off taunting Mariah (Camryn Grimes) about Devon, Hilary (Mishael Morgan) advised Juliet to fight for Cane, told Phyllis not to let Victoria get the better of her, and tangled with Lily over Jordan (Darnell Kirkwood).
So… Hilary, if you’re such a relationship expert, why are you running around like a chicken with its head cut off, trying to keep Lily from Jordan — a guy who’s already dumped you?
Busybody Angst Take 2
Sharon (Sharon Case) is still convinced she can bring down the sex-trafficking ring. So she sabotaged Alice’s (Tamara Clatterbuck) car right after she made sure Alice heard Sharon mention Crystal. Is this about to get really ugly?
