It’s no secret Hilary (Mishael Morgan) had a less than ideal childhood, but no one actually knows how bad things were. However, when a letter she wrote to Santa resurfaces, so does the truth about her past.
Staying Mum about Mom
Hilary grew up with a mom who chose drinking over her daughter and it’s had a profound effect on her. In fact, having to fend for herself made Hilary into the strong woman she is today. She was never really able to be a kid and she’s taken that pain and turned into a fierceness that’s driven her to succeed.
Unfortunately, these are things Hilary never talks about. She keeps her life before Genoa City mostly under wraps. If it wasn’t for her mom dying during a relapse with Neil, no one would even know who Hilary was or where she came from. It’s not something Hilary’s proud of and she’s always dodged questions at every turn.

A Humble Request
That’s all going to change when Devon reads her childhood Santa request. Instead of hoping for a new doll or bike, all little Hilary wanted was a real family.
She longed for a mother who would put her first and a home life like her friends.
Cherishing A Second Chance
If nothing else, revisiting the letter gives Hilary some perspective on the direction she wants her life to go. She needs to stop scheming and search for love. It’s time for her to finally fulfill a wish made all those years ago.
