Looks like that bad boy side that Miles Gaston Villanueva tapped into when Luca got forceful with Summer on The Young and the Restless (YR) is going to come in handy.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Villanueva has been cast as convicted murderer Lyle Menedez in Dick Wolf’s upcoming Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders.

Edie Falco, a Golden Globe award winner for her role on The Sopranos and an Emmy award winner for her part on Nurse Jackie, will play powerhouse attorney Leslie Abrahmson, who defended Lyle and his brother Erik.

They were ultimately convicted of the murder of their parents Jose and Kitty Menendez.

Gus Halper (Chicago P.D.) will play Erik.

The murders were committed in 1989, but the brothers weren’t convicted of the crime until 1994.

The siblings, who came to court in colorful sweaters, used the defense that they’d been subjected to years of abuse from their parents, which drove them to gun down their mother and father. But ultimately, a jury dismissed that theory.

Dramatizations and documentaries of real life crimes have been around for a while, but TV viewers still find them compelling as evidenced by the critical and ratings success of FX’s American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson.

In fact, this isn’t the first scripted dramatization of this specific case in which the two brothers murdered their parents. In 1994, Days of Our Lives’ Billy Warlock (ex-Frankie) played Lyle in Honor The Father and Mother: The True Story of the Menendez Murders.

The series is set to air on NBC this fall on Thursdays at 10 p.m. This pits the factual based drama against ABC’s legal crime drama How to Get Away With Murder.

The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Share your thoughts, leave a comment in the section below. Win exclusive member-only Y&R spoilers, prizes, and more: sign up here. Also, join the conversation on our Facebook page.
