Heartfelt condolences are going out to The Young and the Restless’ Tracey Bregman following the loss of her beloved golden retriever. The actress shared the news of her pet, named Buddha, passing away on social media.
Tracey Bregman — The Hardest Goodbye
The Daytime Emmy-winner first shared the news of Buddha not feeling well back in 2017 when he was diagnosed with liver disease. Bregman turned to homeopathy treatments in order to help Buddha survive. She shared a photo of her reunion with Buddha after the two had been apart while he underwent tests.
“Separated for two days, while Buddha was in the hospital getting a biopsy,” Bregman wrote at the time. “We both cried when we saw each other and then he put his head on my chest for the longest time. We are awaiting all the test results. Please say a prayer….”

Buddha lived an additional three years-plus, however, as any pet lover knows, it’s never easy to say goodbye to a beloved family member. Bregman, as veteran daytime fans recall, began her career in soaps playing Donna Craig on Days of our Lives. After that role came to an end, former DAYS producer Wes Kenney, who later joined YR as executive producer, reached out to the actress about playing Lauren.
Bregman became an instant fan favorite on her new soap as Lauren sparred with rival Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland). Off-screen besties, the two characters vied on-screen for the affections of Danny (Michael Damian) and Brad (Don Diamont) for years. The actresses each won Daytime Emmys on the same day in 1985. Maitland took home the gold in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series category. Bregman won the award for Outstanding Ingenue in a Drama Series in that category’s inaugural year.
Years ago, Lauren and Traci crossed paths with one another and the two women made peace with what transpired between them years ago in a poignant scene that remains in the memories of devoted YR viewers.
