The Young and the Restless: Will Victor Keep His Vow To Retire?

Just like viewers have a hard time imagining The Young & The Restless without Victor (though it did somehow manage to chug along like that from 1973 to 1980), so do the citizens of Genoa City need some time to wrap their heads around the idea of Newman Enterprises without the titular, German-accented (upstate New York, Buffalo-born), mumbling mustache at the helm.

But will Victor make good on his promise to retire and, like every other disgraced executive, “spend more time with family and friends?” Over 5000 of you had some very strong opinions about it!

‘Cause It’s All About Control
Let’s get real: This is a man who couldn’t stop playing the long game and manipulating his family and employees (luckily, the majority of his employees are family; saves time) while he was in PRISON.

And 44% of you don’t believe for a minute Victor’s (Eric Braeden) going to relinquish his power now that he’s finally gotten it back. This could very well be another con; Victor’s latest “Poor Me” stunt to get the family members who aren’t currently worshipping him enough for his liking to snap to it and commence toeing the line. After all, never forget – he’s doing it all for them!

Even Odds
A slightly smaller group, 36%, is willing to gamble that Victor will be true to his word and step down as promised. You’re just not so certain that we won’t be hearing, “I’ll be back,” (he’s already got The Terminator’s accent), within a couple of episodes.

What do you think? Post a comment!

After all, Victor’s done this before. If jail and even death couldn’t keep him away from his precious company, how could those “family and friends” possibly compete in the long run?

Gold Watch Time!
And then there are the 21% of you who buy whatever Victor is selling. Don’t feel bad, if educated women like Ashley (Eileen Davidson) and Meredith (Alicia Coppola), and a street-smart chick like Nikki (Melody Thomas) keep falling for his lines, what chance do the rest of us have?

You think he’s really going to do it, this time. Retire and play Grandpa full-time. Guess only time will tell….
