The Real Reason Max Ehrich and Demi Lovato Called It Quits

Now, in a new YouTube docu-series titled, Demi Lovato: Dancing With the Devil, the 28-year-old singer addresses her relationship with the former YR actor.

According to ET, the Lovato series premiered this week at SXSW on Tuesday night prior to its premiere on March 23, 2021. The series reveals that Lovato and Ehrich’s relationship developed quickly.

He moved in with her and her family after the coronavirus pandemic began. By July 2020, they were engaged. Two months later, Lovato ended things.

Ehrich shared his thoughts on the split via social media. “I’m really sad that things ended the way that they did,” Lovato says in the series. “The good news is, I haven’t picked up any hard drugs or anything like that. I’m hanging in there. It’s just [tough].”

Later, Lovato clarifies, “The video I made earlier wasn’t an accurate representation of what I’m going through. So I thought this whole time that I didn’t miss him. I just miss the person that I started quarantining with. And I don’t know how to give my heart to someone after this.”

What led to the couple’s breakup? Lovato is still processing the matter. “Honestly, what happened? I think I rushed into something that I thought was what I was supposed to do,” the singer suggests. “I realized as time went on that I didn’t actually know the person that I was engaged to.”

The pandemic and being quarantined played a role in the situation, “The hardest part of the breakup was mourning the person I thought he was,” Lovato laments.

As for the future, Lovato’s not sure when she’ll be ready to commit to someone again — if ever. “I feel like I’m actually too queer to marry a man in my life right now,” she reveals. “I’m not willing to put a label on it right this second, and I think I will get there, but there’s a lot of things that I have to do for myself first.”

Demi Lovato: Dancing With the Devil is available starting March 23 on YouTube. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
