Alyvia Alyn Lind, ex-Faith on The Young and the Restless, is asking fans for their support for her cousin, who suffers from a rare disease.

Alyvia Alyn Lind Raises Awareness For Tuberous Sclerosis Complex

On her Instagram story, the young actress posted a link to a fundraiser for tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC), a rare genetic disorder that causes tumors to form in different organs, primarily the brain, eyes, heart, kidney, skin, and lungs.

“My baby cousin bodie went into status epilepticus yesterday morning,” Lind wrote, adding an image of her brave cousin hooked up to machines in his hospital room. “He is just 3 years old and has been batting TSC since he was a newborn. This is the absolute strongest family I know and seeing him like this completely breaks my heart.”

The fundraiser is called Bodie’s Buddies, and Bodie’s mom, Kaylan Eggert O’Hara, is leading the way, announcing the Step Forward to Cure TSC Global Virtual Walk-Run-Ride.

“While the world is beginning to heal and slowly finding a new normal, the TS Alliance is hosting an incredible global virtual event on May 15-16,” the fundraising page describes. “Join me in fighting for the one million people living with TSC. One in 6,000 babies are diagnosed with TSC. Children and adults with TSC face unimaginable challenges every day and yet, even while facing an unprecedented global pandemic, they persevere with incredible courage and tenacity. The TS Alliance is dedicated to finding a cure for TSC, while improving the lives of those affected.”

O’Hara’s own Instagram account reveals how hard it’s been on the family. On Mother’s Day, she posted a similar photo of Brodie in the hospital. “TSC does not take holidays. First Christmas… now Mother’s Day,” she wrote. “Bodie went into status epilepticus early this morning. It took 5 rescue meds and 45 minutes to get him back. This was the closest he has been to intubation. We are in goods hands at Lurie Children’s. Please send good vibes our way.”

Lind, who recently left her role on the soap as she was cast in the new TV version of the popular Chucky movie franchise, urges fans to donate and keep Buddie and his family in their thoughts and prayers.
