Many daytime actors spoke out about basketball legend Kobe Bryant who, along with his daughter, Gianna, 13, and seven other souls lost their lives in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, CA. Now, Daniel Goddard, who recently exited his role as Cane on The Young and the Restless, is revealing the loss literally hit close to his home.

In addition to Kobe and Gianna, the other people who died in the crash are baseball coach John Altobelli, his wife Keri and their basketball-playing daughter Alyssa; mother and daughter Sarah and Payton Chester; Mamba Academy basketball coach Christina Mauser, and pilot Ara Zobayan.
“I live just a few miles from where Kobe’s helicopter crashed…” Goddard posted on Instagram. “And yesterday morning when I woke up and looked at this exact same view… it was so foggy… you couldn’t see the sun… the canyon was steeped in deep low laying clouds. And yet today is a beautiful sunny day… crystal clear? Why today and not yesterday? Why?
“Sometimes life makes no sense,” the fan-favorite continued. “You try and understand why things happen, you try and find a deeper meaning when you are confronted with loss and tragedy. But most of the time there are no answers, just us, and our longing to understand why things happen,” Goddard tweeted.
