The Young and the Restless recap for Thursday, January 16, 2020, features Sharon seeing her oncologist for the first time, Nick hearing the devastating diagnosis, and Phyllis offering herself up to Chance in a way he never saw coming.

The Young and the Restless Recap Highlights

It was a tissue-worthy day for Sharon (Sharon Case). Yes, she has cancer and yes, she will likely survive. She’ll need surgery and chemo but it looks like her stage two diagnosis isn’t the end.

Sharon still came home in tears and broke down once Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) gave her a minute alone. She didn’t get a lot of “me time” though before Nick came banging down the door. Faith sent him over and demanded to the bottom of that dreaded note.

Sharon opened up and told Nick the bad news. She then swore him to secrecy. She’ll tell the children soon, of course, but there is no reason for anyone to know.

Phyllis Got Under Chance’s Skin

Over at the hotel, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) had big plans for 2020, all of which included Chance (Danny Boaz). She knew he was opening his own company and she wanted in. She made him an offer she thought he couldn’t refuse but he did. He turned her down on the spot.

Of course, Abby (Melissa Ordway) saw the whole thing and warned Chance to keep her distance. Red has a way of ruining lives and stomping on hearts. Plus, he belongs to her now.

Mariah Saw Red

Meanwhile, Tessa’s (Cait Fairbanks) new song raised red flags for Mariah (Camryn Grimes). The tune wasn’t like her other songs and Tessa admitted Tanner collaborated on the piece. Mariah acted happy on the phone but she was visibly jealous and worried. She couldn’t take her anger out on her girlfriend so she took a couple of cheap shots at Summer (Hunter King) instead. Summer told her to grow up.

The conversation took a sharp turn to Kyle and Summer made it clear their bestie was about to ruin his career and marriage by hanging onto his anger towards Theo.

Lily Humble-Bragged

Billy (Jason Thompson) continued his downward spiral and even a visit from Lily (Christel Khalil) didn’t help. She tried to talk about Billy’s issues but he deflected over and over. Instead, they chatted about how far Lily’s come since being in prison.
