The Young and the Restless recap for Wednesday, January 1, 2020 rings in the new year with Billy continuing his 2019 pity party, Chelsea professing her love to Nick while Adam professed his to Chelsea, and Devon making his traditional grand gesture.

Billy (Jason Thompson) told Victoria (Amelia Heinle) that, in addition to staying behind on Christmas Eve, he was going to blow off New Year’s Eve, as well. Victoria reminded him that New Year’s Eve is the anniversary of her finding him drunk in the gutter — which kicked off their famously dysfunctional relationship and that she’s happy to rescue him anytime.
Billy silently pouted that she sees him as a man who needs rescuing. He told Victoria he needs more excitement, more adventure, more joy, more, more, more! Victoria thought they can make it work. Billy said he’s heading off to work, but texted Amanda (Mishael Morgan).

Nick: Birthday Boy
Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) surprised Nick (Joshua Morrow) for his birthday and they made plans for the future. Nick thought Chelsea would grab Connor (Judah Mackey) and come back to him after he told her about Adam’s (Mark Grossman) plan to break them up. Chelsea admitted she considered it, but she didn’t want to talk about Adam. She’ll see Nick at the New Year’s party.
At Adam’s, after telling Phyllis she still loves Nick, Adam proclaimed his love again to Chelsea and kissed her. She pulled away. He told her he’ll see her at the party tonight!
Silent Night
Elena (Brytni Sarpy) got a text from Sasha that baby Joy is sick. Elena rushed to the hospital… because no other doctor could examine the tot? Devon (Brytni Sarpy) grandly assured Sasha that her medical bills are covered, as Elena said Joy’s fever is down. (Did they try Motrin before hitting the emergency room?)
