The Young and the Restless recap for November 30-December 4, 2020, features the wedding of the year, a (probably) false arrest, and a medical emergency for Chelsea.
The Young and the Restless Recap Highlights
Genoa City has been privy to a plethora of weddings. And almost weddings. And non-weddings. And even weddings officiated by Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper). They are never boring, or dull. There is always a requisite amount of tension and snapping and backbiting. And the ceremony between Abby (Melissa Ordway) and Chance (Justin Gaston) was no different in those regards.
But it was a very special occasion in its own right. And that had to do with its unification of three of GC’s most prominent clans: the Newmans, the Abbotts, and the Chancellors.
The Hits Just Keep On Coming
But the goodwill generated by the event couldn’t be sustained. Soon enough, Billy (Jason Thompson) found himself hauled down to the police station in handcuffs – accused of the attempted murder of Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) wounding Chance. And Billy’s arrest came mere hours after he and Lily (Christel Khalil) consummated their relationship…this man can never win.
Speaking of Adam, he’s once again a free man (remind us to never seek treatment in a GC mental health facility) and he’s worn down Chelsea’s (Melissa Claire Egan) defenses once again and wormed his way back into her affections. But the strain seems to have caught up with Miss Lawson, judging by her shocking collapse.
Billy: “Let’s think about it. Jill Chancellor Brooks – No, Jill Foster Brooks Chancellor Abbott Atkinson. I think I’m actually missing a husband or two somewhere in there. She’s not exactly the role model of relationships.”
No, no she’s not. However, Billy Boy not only missed a husband, but he got the order wrong and forgot to mention the fact that Jill is also a Fenmore by birth. For the record, Jill was married to Brock Reynolds, Phillip Chancellor II (marriage annulled), Stuart Brooks, Derek Thurston (marriage invalid), John Abbott (twice) Rex Sterling (marriage invalid), and Colin Atkinson (twice).
How did Summer (Hunter King) grow up with a cinephile like Nick (Joshua Morrow) as a father and not develop an appreciation for classic, black-and-white films?
Victor: “Look at them all…The Newmans, and the Abbotts, and the Chancellors, and the Winters. These are the families that built Genoa City. Well, the Brooks and the Fosters might disagree with that sentiment Victor. Especially since they were in GC decades before you showed up. And the Chancellors didn’t build anything. It was the REYNOLDS family who initially built the factory that would be taken over, renamed, and run by Philip Chancellor II when he married the widowed Katherine Reynolds.
How surprised were you to hear Nina mention that she was staying at the Genoa City Athletic Club – a location that hasn’t been featured in years – rather than the Grand Phoenix?
Which character were you most surprised to see in the flashbacks offered during Chabby’s wedding and subsequent reception? Phillip III (Thomas Bierdz)? Ryan (Scott Reeves)? How about Brad Carlton, especially given the fact that his portrayer, Don Diamont, is currently ensconced over at sister-soap The Bold and the Beautiful.
Don’t you wish that we had been given a more concrete explanation for Phillip III’s absence than the proffered “he’s having surgery?”
Whose absence from the wedding was the most conspicuous? Florence, the groom’s grandmother? Or Lola (Sasha Calle), the bride’s supposed bestie? Props to the scriptwriter who gave lip service to Ronan (Jeff Brandon), Chance’s half-brother, and Nina’s firstborn.
Who do you think gave the newlyweds the best advice? And while we’re on the subject, were any of them actually qualified to OFFER advice about marriage?
What proved to be the best use of history during the special wedding week? The shout out to Victoria and Nina’s past as love rivals, Nina’s work as an authoress and scriptwriter, all the references to long since passed characters (like Ryan, Brad, and Colleen), or Nina’s simple utterance of Christine’s (Lauralee Bell) former nickname?
Did anyone else cotton on to the fact that the song Traci sang as Abby walked down the aisle was actually the Y&R theme with lyrics? The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
