Now that we’ve all feted Victor on The Young and the Restless and told him how wonderful he is, is it time for him to fade quietly into the sunset?

The Young and the Restless Polling

Have you ever seen Victor (Eric Braeden) do anything quietly? Or subtly? Does he know how to enter a room without sucking up all the oxygen in it?

Victoria (Amelia Heinle) was so proud of being his heir apparent. So proud that he’d allowed her to run Newman Enterprises while he stepped aside and… uh… punched bags. (He also claimed to watch The Price Is Right.) But is the break over? Should Victor come out of retirement? What we heard from almost 4,000 fans:

Stay Put

Leave Victoria alone once she recovers from her knife wound, 68% of you admonish. She likes playing CEO. She’s so proud of herself. Her marriage — or whatever that non-commitment with Billy (Jason Thompson) thing was — has fallen apart. Her kids are too young to cause her front burner level problems. (Except Reed, and he is on his way back.) The job is all Victoria has. Victor has no right to take it away from her.

Plus, he’s old. Does he even know how social media works? Is he up on all the latest tech trends? The man is a mumbly dinosaur. Let the next generation take over!

Come Back

Of course, he should, 37% of The Young and the Restless fans counter. Victoria is in no position to lead Newman Enterprises into a new epoch. She’s too distracted. Her marriage — or whatever that non-commitment with Billy thing was — has fallen apart. Her kids are too young to take care of themselves without her monitoring every step.

That’s not the profile of a hard-driving CEO. Why, when Victor was her age, he could ignore Nikki (Melody Thomas) and the kids like a pro. He even had time to ignore girlfriends like Ashley (Eileen Davidson) and Diane.

Victoria will never live up to his standards. She should step aside and let Daddy show her how it’s done. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
