Nobody disagrees that Nikki and Victor are the matriarch and patriarch of The Young and the Restless. They’re parents to half the cast! But they’ve also been around for decades and have been through… everything.
Is it time to make them supporting players or do fans want to see more Victor (Eric Braeden) and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott)? How over 4,000 of you feel:
Nikki and Victor are the gold standard, 60% of the audience insists, and they should always be on the front burner. How many other characters can say they’ve been in a cult and an orphanage, gotten over venereal disease and multiple diseases of unknown origin without a scratch, have stripped, and run for Senate?
So they’ve completely screwed up the child-raising thing. Adam (Mark Grossman) is a psycho, Dylan (Steve Burton) is MIA, Victoria (Amelia Heinle) has extremely poor taste in men, Nick (Joshua Morrow) doesn’t respond well to not getting his way, and even Abby (Melissa Ordway) is walking around with a purse full of stolen jewelry.
But Nikki still looks lovely, doesn’t she? And Victor… Victor rocks a mustache. Do you need more reasons to have them on every day?
One and Done
A smaller 40% of The Young and the Restless fans think this couple is played out. They have literally been through everything, including amnesia, prison, bad-seed grandchildren… and everything in between.
Their stories have been going into reruns for years now. How many times can we see them break up and make up? How many times can Nikki go running to Jack (Peter Bergman) and Victor feel virile by romancing women half his age?
Give other characters a chance to get what Nikki already has — true love, family, and enough flashbacks for a heck of an anniversary episode. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
