As viewers of The Young and the Restless were reminded today, Brenda Epperson once played the part of Ashley Abbott. She appeared in the classic episode featuring Brad and Traci’s wedding. Sadly, the actress is now sharing news of a deep, personal loss.
Condolences to Brenda Epperson
“Rest In Peace Daddy,” Epperson posted after losing her loved one. “We love you Daddy, saying goodbye is never easy, you will always be in our hearts. Thank you for all of the love you have given us every day of our lives. I’m glad you are out of pain. Praying you’re heart is healing mom. Praying the pain in our country is healed in Jesus name. #justbelieve.”
Epperson won the role of Ashley in the late 1980s after her original portrayer, Eileen Davidson, exited the part following a five-year run. During Epperson’s tenure as the beautiful chemist, Ashley mourned the loss of her late husband Steven (Rod Arrants), wed Victor (Eric Braeden), and aided Victoria (then-Heather Tom) after she lost her virginity to Ryan (Scott Reeves) and wanted to get tested for HIV/AIDS.
Post-Victor, Ashley fell for Alex “Blade” Bladeson (Michael Tylo), a talented photographer, who had a twin, Rick. Blade was later killed in a train wreck. Ashley, once again a widow, moved to Paris to grieve. After leaving YR in 1995, Epperson appeared on Passions as Crystal and, more recently, on The Rich and the Ruthless as Edith.
An accomplished singer, Epperson released in 2013 a 3-song EP titled Take Time, available on iTunes and other streaming services. Soap Hub sends sincere condolences to Epperson and her family at this difficult time. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
