Marla Adams, who has played Dina Abbott Mergeron on The Young and the Restless on and off since 1983, is celebrating something special today! It’s the actress’ 80th birthday!

While many soap fans know her as Dina, Adams often still hears viewers call her “Belle” — the role she played on The Secret Storm from 1968-74.

The actress has appeared on other soaps, too. She played Mildred on General Hospital in the 1960s and made several appearances as Beth Logan on The Bold and the Beautiful in the early 1990s around the time Beth’s daughter Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) had had Eric’s (John McCook) child, Eric, Jr.

Adams also appeared on NBC soaps Generations (as Helen Mullin) and Days of Our Lives (as Claire McIntyre). She also subbed as Myrna Clegg on the defunct CBS sudser Capitol.

Adams returned to Y&R last year as Dina reconnected with her children: Jack (Peter Bergman), Ashley (Eileen Davidson), and Traci (Beth Maitland). Later, they discovered that Dina was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.

While Dina has challenges, she still has the love and support of her family — and apparently, the physical strength to overpower a man young enough to be her son, Graham (Max Shippee), who tried to kill her with a lethal injection! (#RIPGraham)!

Adams received a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for playing Dina.

Soap Hub joins Adams’ family, friends, and fans in wishing the actress a happy birthday and many happy returns!

The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for airtimes.
