His alter ego on The Young and the Restless may not have had a close relationship with his mother, but beloved actor Shemar Moore was truly devoted to his mom.
Shemar Moore Remembers His Late Mother
Moore took to Instagram today in order to pay tribute to the woman who birthed him – the occasion, a particularly poignant one. As the actor explained in his post – which accompanied a picture of him standing above a plaque bearing the date 1-26-20 – “This stone at my feet is placed in the exact spot where my mother stood on 1-26-20 the night I signed the offer for my new home… it was the last time I saw her in person…
“She called me to that spot and said those words to me… ‘This house is my son’s home’…” The former Criminal Minds star then went on to share yet another highly personal remembrance. “Last night I was staring at the sky hoping to see the full moon Lunar Eclipse… but the clouds covered the moon 🌚 so I couldn’t see it… instead I saw one lone bright star shining through the clouds…
“When I was I child, my mother would call me her little ‘Buddha Belly’ because I was a lil Fatty 😜 as I got older, she called me her “Boo”….. there’s a cosmic app which allows you to aim your phone at the sky, and it tells you the names and locations of stars and planets… I aimed my phone at that lone star… and the name of that particular star just so happened to be the “Boo” Star…. true story….. Hi mom, I see you🌟❤️🕊”
Marylin Joan Wilson-Moore passed away on February 9, 2020. Moore revealed the news on social media with a statement that read in part, “I miss her more than I ever thought possible and I don’t know how to do this life without her…but I get my STRENGTH from her and I will be OK because of HER.”
Shemar Moore founded Baby Girl LLC, an online retail company that donates a significant portion of its profits to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society – multiple sclerosis being the disease from which his mother suffered until her death.
