Malcolm’s return is all about family on The Young and the Restless. The photographer reunited with his niece/daughter Lily and discovered Holden is his long-lost son. While Malcolm is busy with Lily and Holden, some fans think he should show some love to his former stepson, Nate.

Key Takeaways

  • Malcolm was married to Nate’s mom Olivia from 1997 to 2000.
  • Malcolm formed a close bond with Nate that remained even after his and Olivia’s divorce.
  • Nate might play a pivotal role in Malcolm’s latest return.

Father Figure

Before discovering that Lily (Christel Khalil) and Holden (Nathan Owens) were his children, Malcolm (Shemar Moore) was stepdad to Nate (Sean Dominic). In 1997, Malcolm married Olivia (Tonya Lee Williams) and quickly formed a bond with her son, whom he later adopted. After the death of his dad Nathan (Adam Lazarre-White), Nate viewed Malcolm as a second father figure.

Unfortunately, Malcolm and Olivia divorced, but Malcolm remained part of Nate’s life. When Olivia tried to block Malcolm from seeing Nate, he sued for visitation rights and won.

Although Malcolm had a close relationship with Nate, in recent years, he seems to have forgotten about his stepson. During Malcolm’s last appearances, he’s barely had any scenes with Nate, something viewers think should change.

On a soap opera forum, fans want to see more interactions between Nate and Malcolm. “Why did they write Malcolm and Nate barely no contact? Malcolm was married to Nate’s mom Olivia for years, so Nate is his stepson,” wrote one poster.

“Nate should be as excited if not even more than Lily and they acted like semi-acquaintances,” wrote fan replied. “I can’t remember the last time I remember them mentioning that Malcolm is Nate’s legal father through adoption,” another fan wrote.

Nate’s Role In Malcolm’s Return

So far, Malcolm’s return has been centered around Lily and his newly discovered son Holden. However, the family reunion is anything but joyous since Malcolm needs a bone marrow transplant.

Time is of the essence to find a donor, and the Winters family needs everyone on board. Nate will get himself tested, although odds are he won’t be a donor either. But since Nate’s a former doctor, he could use his connections to get better care for Malcolm.

With Malcolm facing the possibility of death, it’s an emotional time for the Winters family. As Malcolm braces for the worst, he’ll want to spend more time with his loved ones. Hopefully, Nate will be included in those family moments.
