Popular The Young and the Restless star Melissa Claire Egan is reportedly leaving her role as Chelsea on the top-rated soap.
According to Daytime Confidential, inside sources are saying days worth of social media rumors are true and Egan is indeed out.
She seems to be following in the footsteps of former co-star Justin Hartley (Adam) who left the soap in 2016 to pursue primetime dreams. Egan wants to do the same, but unlike her, Hartley already had a primetime series lined up. This Is Us became a big hit and Adam succumbed to an exploding cabin.

Egan got her soap start in 2006 as Annie on All My Children, and moved on to Y&R in 2011 when AMC ended. DC reports that the show does not plan to recast and the door will be left open for Egan’s return.
