In the October 28 episode of The Young and the Restless, Phyllis finally had everything she needed to build a successful business, but she seemed more interested in destroying Victor than enjoying her accomplishments. With Arabesque under her control and Daniel working alongside her, Phyllis had plenty of reasons to celebrate. Instead, she declared war on Newman Enterprises and made it clear that simply beating the competition wouldn’t satisfy her.

Key Takeaways

  • Phyllis threatened to build competing properties wherever Newman Enterprises operates.
  • Nick tried to convince Phyllis to appreciate her success instead of pursuing a personal vendetta.
  • Phyllis vowed to annihilate Newman Enterprises, raising questions about what she’s willing to sacrifice.

Phyllis Turns Her Fresh Start Into a War With Victor

Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) approached Victor (Eric Braeden) and Nick (Joshua Morrow) at the Athletic Club with an offer to buy them drinks. However, her generosity came with a warning that she was preparing to challenge Newman Enterprises.

She announced plans to build bigger and better properties next to Newman holdings, including their Dubai hotel. Victor dismissed her threats, but Phyllis seemed convinced that Arabesque could take on his empire.

The problem wasn’t Phyllis’s ambition. She finally had a company to run, an opportunity to prove herself, and a chance to work with Daniel (Michael Graziadei).

However, Phyllis wasn’t satisfied with building something successful. She wanted Victor to lose, and she seemed determined to make that happen regardless of the consequences.

Nick Wants Phyllis to Recognize What She Already Has

Nick tried to convince Phyllis that she was overlooking everything going right in her life. He reminded her that she had Arabesque, Daniel back in her orbit, and an opportunity to move forward without constantly fighting the Newmans.

Phyllis interpreted his warnings as another attempt to keep her in her place. Rather than recognizing his concern, she accused him of trying to discourage her ambitions.

That reaction revealed how personal this battle had become. Nick wasn’t asking Phyllis to abandon Arabesque or stop competing with Newman Enterprises. He wanted her to recognize the difference between running a successful business and making revenge her primary objective.

Later, Nick told Victor that he continued rooting for Phyllis because he wanted things to work out for her. Victor warned that Phyllis might eventually do something even Nick couldn’t forgive.

Phyllis Risks Sacrificing Success for Revenge

Phyllis’s conversation with Daniel made her priorities even clearer. When he questioned her confrontation with Nick, she insisted the Newmans were nervous about Arabesque and claimed their concern only energized her.

Then she raised the stakes. Phyllis declared that beating Newman Enterprises wasn’t enough because she intended to annihilate the company.

That distinction matters because Phyllis no longer seems interested in measuring success by what Arabesque accomplishes. She’s measuring it by how much damage she can inflict on Victor.

Daniel now has a stake in the company, too, which means Phyllis’s decisions could affect more than her own future. Nick still wants her to succeed, but his patience may have limits if she continues treating his concern as opposition.

Phyllis finally has the independence and opportunity she’s fought to achieve. The question is whether she’ll recognize their value before her determination to destroy Victor puts everything she’s building at risk.
