In the August 25 episode of The Young and the Restless, Claire finally questioned why Kyle and Victoria have been spending so much time together. She suspects Kyle could be using Victoria to get revenge on Victor, but his behavior doesn’t really support that theory. Claire may have noticed something important between her ex and her mother while completely misreading what it means.

Key Takeaways

  • Claire suspects Kyle could be getting close to Victoria as part of his revenge against Victor.
  • Kyle actually showed more concern than Victoria about reigniting the Newman-Abbott feud.
  • If revenge isn’t driving Kyle toward Victoria, Claire may need to consider what is.

Claire Finally Questions Kyle About Victoria

Victoria (Amelia Heinle) was the one who approached Kyle (Michael Mealor) with the idea of reviving the old competition between Jabot and Vibrante. Their conversation quickly became playful, with Victoria joking about putting Kyle in an office next to hers and Kyle calling her a “pure joy.”

Then Claire (Hayley Erin) arrived and asked what Kyle was doing with her mother. Once she learned about the proposed Jabot-Vibrante competition, she connected it to Kyle’s anger at Victor (Eric Braeden) and asked whether he was using Victoria to get revenge. Claire isn’t imagining that something has changed between Kyle and Victoria, but she may be imagining the reason why.

Kyle Isn’t Acting Like He’s Using Victoria

If Kyle wanted to use Victoria against Victor, this was a strange way to go about it. Victoria proposed the partnership, while Kyle pointed out everything that could go wrong. He worried about reigniting the Newman-Abbott feud and specifically told Victoria that his family had stepped back from revenge because of what Nick (Joshua Morrow) is going through.

Kyle also refused to commit to Victoria’s proposal without discussing it with Jack (Peter Bergman). That’s hardly the behavior of a man secretly maneuvering Victoria into position as a weapon against her father. If anything, Victoria was pushing Kyle toward something he wasn’t sure they should do.

Claire May Be Right for the Wrong Reason

What Claire did notice was how comfortable Kyle and Victoria have become with each other. Their conversations are increasingly easy and playful, and this isn’t the first time Claire has encountered them together. This time, she finally asked herself why it keeps happening.

Claire settled on revenge because it gives Kyle an obvious reason to be interested in Victoria, but Kyle’s actions undermined that explanation. Nothing proves Kyle has romantic feelings for Victoria.

Still, if Kyle isn’t getting closer to Victoria because he wants something from Victor, Claire may eventually realize that the question isn’t whether Kyle is using her mother. It’s why he seems to enjoy being around her so much.
