The Young And The Restless has added a slew of new characters over the last few years. Some have come to Genoa City only to leave (e.g., Jordan, Graham, and Juliet). But one young leading lady, played by Cait Fairbanks, has had some staying power!
Fairbanks joined YR in 2017 as the intriguing Tessa Porter. Here are five facts you may not know about the actress who plays Mariah’s (Camryn Grimes) love interest!
Great At Eight
Fairbanks started performing on stage at the age of eight. She’s appeared in numerous productions including the 2014 Off-Broadway production Heathers: The Musical.
Before landing in Genoa City, the actress/singer appeared on CSI: NY as the character of Young Mindy and as Gabby Walsh in Untold Stories Of The E.R.
A real-life singer, Fairbanks performs as both herself and under the name Ginesse. Last March, she released a new song titled Noise. It can be seen on YouTube. She also performs her own songs on YR.
Fairbanks has been acknowledged by the Daytime Emmys with two nominations, but they haven’t both been in the same category. In 2018, Fairbanks was nominated for her role as Tessa for Outstanding Younger Leading Actress In A Drama Series.
Her second nomination came in 2019 in the category of Outstanding Original Song for the tune How Could A Lie Feel So True, which was played on YR.
Fairbanks’ Tessa delivers zingers and wry remarks that are a nod to movie stars past and present — think Emily Blunt in The Devil Wears Prada or Eve Arden in the classic film Mildred Pierce.
Not surprisingly, Fairbanks has some sitcoms to her credits including Everybody Hates Chris and Two And A Half Men. The Young And The Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
