You won’t believe who the logical heir is!

On the August 20 episode of The Young and the Restless, a wide variety of people with a very tentative connection to Chancellor Industries debated who should be running Chancellor Industries. But was it a coincidence that the person who makes the most sense just happened to also show up in town at the same time?

Key Takeaways

  • Billy believes he is owed Chancellor.
  • Lily believes she is owed Chancellor.
  • Here is who is really owed Chancellor.

Bastard Son

Devon (Bryton James) is Kay’s (Jeanne Cooper) grandson. He self-righteously says he doesn’t want the company. And he doesn’t want Lily (Christel Khalil) having it either. Mostly because Cane (Billy Flynn) is the one running it. Lily isn’t pleased by his attitude.

The Next Level

Billy (Jason Thompson) is the son of the woman who had an affair with Kay’s husband. Naturally, Chancellor should be his.

Can you think of a better person to run the company, which was started by Kay’s first husband, and she gave to her second husband, then left to Victor (Eric Braeden), and he gave it to Lily for help with defeating Cane?

There is practically a direct line to Billy’s rightful ownership. Why is he the only one who can see it?

True Blue

When Jill (Jess Walton) had an affair with Phillip, it resulted in the birth of their son, Phillip III. Phillip ended up faking his death for decades.

But, before that, he had a son with Nina (Tricia Cast) — even though he spent years in love with Christine (Lauralee Bell). That son was the recently dead Chance (Conner Floyd). And, what do you know? In today’s episode, we also had scenes with Nina and Christine!

The Long Con

If Chancellor belongs to anyone, it should be to Chance. But he’s gone. Which means the company should go to his legal son, Dominic (Ethan Ray Allen). But Dominic is just a little boy. He can’t run a company yet.

Maybe his grandmother Nina — with the help of her lawyer bestie, Christine — could run it for him until he grows up? Or maybe, Dominic’s bio dad could take over. And that just happens to be Devon. Maybe that explains why he doesn’t want Lily and Cane to have it.
