He has played complicated characters across daytime and primetime landscapes, earning him a legion of fans who respect his powerful work. And veteran actor Richard Burgi has an even more special milestone to fete.

And that’s because he was born on July 30, 1958, in Montclair, New Jersey, which means that this much-beloved actor is turning 65 years old today! One of Burgi’s earliest acting credit is Chad Rollo on NBC’s Another World.
After spending a few years at the Brooklyn-based soap, Burgi found employment on two other daytime serials: One Life to Live (where he played Randy Stone) and As the World Turns (where he played Glen Harrington).
Following his move out to the west coast, Burgi appeared in several nighttime series, including Empty Nest, the Jamie Lee Curtis-fronted Anything But Love, Matlock, Who’s the Boss, and Viper. He also played Phillip Collier opposite Patsy Pease (Kimberly Brady) on Days of our Lives.
After briefly co-headlining the crime series One West Waikiki – alongside former Charlie’s Angel Cheryl Ladd – Burgi was cast in his most prominent role: Det. Jim Ellison, the lead character in the science fiction program The Sentinel.

Richard Burgi’s TVography also includes recurring roles on The District, 24, Judging Amy, Desperate Housewives, Body of Proof, and Devious Maids, and a stint as serial killer Paul Hornsby on General Hospital.
He’s also appeared in several feature films, such as Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation, the Jim Carrey/Téa Leoni comedy Fun with Dick and Jane, and Friday the 13th. He made his Genoa City debut in 2021 on The Young and the Restless, where he played (supposedly?) doomed mogul, Ashland Locke.
Richard Burgi has been married to Liliana Lopez since February 2012. He was previously wed to Lori Kahn, with whom he shares two children: sons Jack (born December 8, 1996), and Samuel (born August 15, 2000).
