The Young and the Restless can lay claim to many great young love stories over the years, and now, Kyle and Lola are positioned to become one of the show’s most memorable ones. But the couple’s set to be torn apart now that Kyle’s gone ahead with a plan to save Lola’s life!
Michael Mealor, who plays Kyle, says his character is only thinking of what’s best for Lola (Sasha Calle) by marrying Summer (Hunter King). He knows he needs to seal the deal with Summer if he wants her to be Lola’s liver donor!
“[Kyle’s] going to do what he thinks will save the love of his life,” Mealor told TV Insider. “She needs a transplant. We can’t find one and then Summer comes in. Kyle’s thinking, ‘If this is what I have to do to save Lola’s life, so be it.’”
And let’s not forget that before Lola came to town, Kyle and Summer did have a relationship, hampered in the past by the news that they thought they both shared the same father, Jack (Peter Bergman).
In fact, Kyle and Summer have a lot in common. Now that they’ve wed, it’s not just Lola’s liver that stands to be the winner. Kyle and Summer might end up happily ever.
“Yes, Summer is the better option on paper,” Mealor acknowledges, “but does that mean they’re soulmates? That’s a tease for the audience.”
A Kyle and Summer union is more than heartbreak for Lola, who may or may not understand why Kyle’s doing what he’s doing. The marriage will create some potential fireworks over finances between Jack and Victor (Eric Braeden) given that their family members are marrying each other.

Co-star Christian Jules LeBlanc (Michael) noted to his co-stars that Summer might get a big chunk of Kyle’s stake in Jabot should they divorce.
“I said, ‘She’s a Newman! She has her own money. She can give me half.'” Mealor points out.
“But, remember when Summer came back to town last year, she had blown through her trust fund.”
