Time flies when you’re having fun, which is something Michael Mealor can attest to. It’s been two years since the newcomer was cast as Kyle Abbott on The Young and the Restless. Now, he’s sent a special message of thanks to his loyal followers.

Congratulations, Michael Mealor

“Over 300 episodes, 2 years, 2 marriages, 2 divorces, a few tears, a lot of shirtless scenes and 1 wardrobe malfunction later…Here. We. Are…my 2 year @YandR_CBS anniversary!” Mealor tweeted. “Thank you to everybody involved and a special thank you to all of the fans! I love you forever!”

YR had aged Kyle, Jack’s (Peter Bergman) son with the late Diane Jenkins (Alex Donnelley; Susan Walters; Maura West), three times before Mealor was cast in the part. Each actor played Kyle for a bit and then exited the canvas due to storyline purposes or a regime change. Mealor, however, has proven to have staying power as Kyle has gone through several storylines since joining the show.

At first, Mealor wasted no time getting his feet wet in Genoa City. Kyle jumped into the middle of the feud between Jack and Victor (Eric Braeden). Kyle tried to take Jabot public (which didn’t exactly work out too well last time as the family lost control of the company); Jack intervened and put a stop to his son’s plan.

Kyle, determined to make a splash in the family business, launched Birthday Suit, a sunblock by Jabot that caused his bathing suit to vanish once it got wet! Kyle’s stunt led to a great deal of publicity for the new product. He went on to romance both Summer (Hunter King) and Lola (Sasha Calle).

Over the last 24 months, he’s married each one and now is ready for his second divorce. Additionally, YR has turned Kyle’s “frenemy” Theo (Tyler Johnson) into his cousin, courtesy of revealing that Theo’s paternal grandmother is Dina (Marla Adams).

Soap Hub joins Mealor’s followers in wishing the actor a happy 2nd anniversary on the soap and many more to come! The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
