The Young and the Restless was rumored to be re-starting production this month. And while it’s not happening as early as some thought it might, the show will be rolling tape and shooting scenes by the middle of July.

The Young and the Restless Production Start Change

TV Line reports that the CBS hour-long soap opera will be back taping new episodes starting Monday, July 13. Despite California having a big increase in coronavirus cases, YR is moving forward with its plan to return to work. However, as the situation remains in flux, the July 13 date could change.

Sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful returned to work on June 17 but the soap hit the pause button for a while as testing procedures and policies were re-addressed and perfected. The two CBS serials aired original episodes through last April and have been airing soap classics in their place.

This week, YR is airing shows related to the long-running romance between Paul (Doug Davidson) and Christine (Lauralee Bell). General Hospital has been eyeing a return to production in mid-July, too, according to reports. Due to production schedules, NBC’s Days of our Lives has enough original episodes to last into the fall.

Other classic episodes have focused on the love story of Victor (Eric Braeden) and Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki), weddings including the one between Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon (Sharon Case), the 1991 masquerade ball that climaxed with the trash compactor-death of David Kimble (Michael Corbett), and the first meeting of Neil Winters (the late Kristoff St. John) and Drucilla Barber (Victoria Rowell).

Last week, YR won its 10th Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series. The show debuted on March 26, 1973 and was created by the late William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell.

Tony Morina serves as the show’s current executive producer. Josh Griffith is the show’s co-executive producer/head writer. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
