Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) meant business when he mentioned he’s signed a new singer on The Young and the Restless.
According to Soap Opera Digest, Y&R has cast Shanica Knowles as Simone, who is described as “a talented singer, whose career Devon hopes to cultivate.”
If you think it’s a coincidence that Shanica shares that same last name as superstar Beyonce (Knowles), you’d be wrong! The two are cousins!
The Y&R newcomer brings some acting credits along with some singing chops to her role. She’s appeared on the series Awkward, Melissa and Joey, and Suburgatory.
Additionally, Shanica played the recurring role of Amber Addison on Hannah Montana. Her character was a “mean girl” who was one of Miley’s rivals! (In real-life, she’s called Hannah’s portrayer, Miley Cyrus, a “very talented artist.”)

Shanica is set to debut on Thursday, February 8 and will be on for multiple episodes.
